Strongpoint

Program

Commitment to Mental Health
During STR's therapeutic programming, on-site licensed clinical providers lead therapeutic group activities and are available for one-on-one supportive work. Our clinical providers are part of the retreat facilitation team and attend all retreat activities alongside their brothers and sisters.
When we are physically hurting we may be quick to treat the accompanying symptoms, but far too often veterans choose to ignore their mental symptoms or do not have the tools or support to treat them effectively. Through therapeutic group activities and one-on-one opportunities, veterans can learn therapeutic skills and coping strategies to assist in managing these symptoms.
The natural beauty of The Ranch and endless mountain views are an ideal location for service members to release the weight of traumatic experiences that they have been carrying around. By relieving the toxic burden of unwanted stress, sadness, anger, guilt, fears, etc. participants can grow and work on becoming the best versions of themselves.
Participants routinely comment on how their healing and growth on The Ranch has carried forward in meaningful ways and improved their lives. That growth has benefited them and carried over to their loved ones; benefitting all.
Every program at Strongpoint Theinert Ranch is unique to the group that is visiting. The activities described below are key components of our therapeutic process and are referred to as pillar events.
Flag Ceremony
We officially open and close the programs with facilitators and participants by raising and lowering the flag. In this ceremony, we remember that despite our differences, we exist together with a shared purpose.

Fiddler’s Green
A sacred place of remembrance, the hitching post was built during S.T.R. 003 in 2017 to serve as a memorial for all of our fallen brothers and sisters. Anyone who would like to make a dog tag for a fellow veteran who has passed will have the opportunity to do so and add it to the memorial.

The Legacy Hike
To share and support, A keystone event at S.T.R., participants will hike based on overall group ability. As we explore the ranch each team member will have an opportunity to share something about themselves, their military experience, and the legacy they hope to leave.

The Labyrinth
A meditative experience, the Labyrinth is a walking path made from natural materials found in the surrounding land. The labyrinth is not a maze and there are no tricks to it and no dead ends. Walking a labyrinth is an active form of meditation that allows you to integrate the body with the mind. Everyone experiences the labyrinth differently, and even for the same person no two walks are the same.

Service Project
Leave your mark, every group that stays here at S.T.R. has an opportunity to improve the property through a work project. Projects have included deck building, mural painting, library organization, and sign making. Projects are determined by group ability and goals. By participating each visitor both leaves a permanent mark on the property and becomes a steward of S.T.R., preparing and improving the ranch for the next group.
